Department of the Juvenile Probation Service and Probation Service for Adults of Rodos

INTRODUCTION

The Department of the Juvenile Probation Service and Probation Service for Adults of Rodos is housed in a rented property located in the city centre of Rhodes, near the Rhodes Judicial Court Building, at 28–30 Iroon Polytechniou Street.

The Service operates daily from Monday to Friday, 07:00–15:00, while public reception takes place from 09:00–15:00 by appointment, excluding official public holidays, namely: 1 January, 6 January, 7 March (local public holiday), 25 March, Clean Monday, Good Friday, Easter Monday, 1 May, Holy Spirit Monday (Whit Monday), 15 August, 3 October, 28 October, 14 November (local public holiday), 25 December and 26 December.

On Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve, the Service operates until 13:00.

The Service is a regional service of the Ministry of Justice and, according to the current Organisation Regulation (Presidential Decree No. 30/2025), falls administratively under the 3rd Directorate of Juvenile Probation and Social Assistance Services. Its geographical jurisdiction coincides with that of the Court of First Instance of Rhodes.

COMPETENCES

The main target group of the Department of the Juvenile Probation Service and Probation Service for Adults of Rodos consists of persons with delinquent behaviour, both adults and minors.

The Service is staffed by one Social Assistance Officer and one Juvenile Probation Officer.

The work of the Social Assistance Officer is related to the implementation of sanctions and measures served in the community, with community service being the most advanced alternative sanction.

The work of the Juvenile Probation Officer focuses on cooperation with minors who have committed acts subject to criminal prosecution and fall under the jurisdiction of the Juvenile Courts. Through appropriate guidance and the implementation of educational measures, the main objective is to prevent reoffending and to promote the smooth social integration of juvenile and young adult offenders.
